About YVR Yenta
Yenta means matchmaker in Yiddish! We are a group of matchmakers here to help you find modern love. We believe that our collective can procure you a better match than any computer algorithm will, and that meaningful connections are the antidote to capitalist alientation. We are located in the beautiful city of Vancouver (unceded Coast Salish territory), where finding the perfect view is easy but finding someone to share it with can be challenging.
We are a free dating service for people of all religious & ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations & genders. We strive to be an anti-oppressive dating service as dating often reproduces inequalities seen in larger society- making it feel unsafe and daunting for many. We aim to create a safer atmosphere for marginalized individuals to have more positive experiences going on dates and being setup.
What We Offer
Matchmaking & Singles Events
Matchmaking
Step 1: Fill out our initial interest form to tell us about yourself and what you are looking for. This also adds you to our email list.
Step 2: Come meet us! We run intake every 6-8 weeks (announced via email). You'll sign up for a 20-25 min slot for us to get to know each other.
Step 3: Once we meet you and get a vibe, we begin looking through our database to find you suitable matches. When we find a potential match we email both parties asking for a few pics and a short bio and then send them along to the potential match. If both parties feel excited to meet we send you one another's contact info, and you take it from there!
Singles Events
We are always looking to provide more avenues for people to meet and build their own connections! Every few months we aim to offer a community gathering, ranging from intimate dinners to larger facilitated parties.
